Premise

The Best Thesis Awards for Planning 2024 is a prestigious competition aimed at recognizing and celebrating the finest undergraduate and postgraduate theses in the field of planning. This competition invites final-year students and recent graduates (2023) from all recognized Schools/Institutions offering B.Plan education to showcase their exceptional work. The competition serves as a platform to highlight innovative and impactful solutions to real-world planning challenges.

Objective

The objective of this competition is to identify and reward outstanding theses that demonstrate excellence in the field of planning. Participants are encouraged to submit work that reflects creativity, critical thinking, and a comprehensive understanding of planning principles. The competition seeks to foster a culture of innovation and inspire future planners to contribute meaningfully to urban, environmental, infrastructure, housing, regional, and transportation planning.

Constraints

  • Submissions must be original work completed as part of the participant’s final year of study.
  • Only theses submitted by students exiting college in 2024 or who graduated in 2023 are eligible.
  • Entries must be submitted by individuals or teams of up to three members.

Site

The competition is open to students from any recognized institution worldwide. There is no specific site requirement for the projects; participants can choose any scale or location that best suits their thesis topic.

Schedule and Fees

  • Early Registration: 10th November 23:59 GMT/UTC ($30 USD)
  • Regular Registration: 10th December 23:59 GMT/UTC ($45 USD)
  • Late Registration: 25th December 23:59 GMT/UTC ($60 USD)
  • Submission Deadline: 25th December 23:59 GMT/UTC
  • Results Announced: 25th January

Submission Requirements

  1. 2 x A1 Sheets explaining the value proposition or the design (each PDF with at least 150dpi – Max. 20 MB)
  2. Optional 1-2 min Video explaining your design/concept (content in the video is at the participant’s discretion)
  3. Team Participation: Teams of 1-3 Individuals (Multiple Registrations Allowed using different Email IDs and Phone Numbers)
  4. File Naming: The final PDF must be named ‘team-.pdf’ (for example, team-1234.pdf) and should be uploaded on Google Drive/Dropbox/OneDrive or any similar online file handler with ‘Public Access’ setting as ‘Enabled’
  5. Video Naming: The final video must be named ‘team- | Seek Fanatic Competition #seekfanatic and uploaded as an ‘Unlisted’ video on YouTube (Choose ‘Mark as not made for kids’ while uploading)
  6. Plagiarism: The content in sheets should be free of any plagiarism (except collages and human cutouts in renders)
  7. Anonymity: Submitted content must not include any information which exposes details of the participant or the region the participant resides in
  8. Logo Requirement: Seek Fanatic logo must be postfixed to the video for 3 seconds with a black background (Download logo: go.seekfanatic.com/logo)
  9. Registration: Registration must be done on seekfanatic.com only – using the contact information of the team representative.
  10. Team Number: Team Number is the same as your Order Number (4-digit code) after payment of registration fees.

Note: Failing in compliance with any of the above requirements will lead to disqualification of the respective team from the competition, with a notification email to the registered email id of the team leader.
