ENR Regional Best Projects Awards 2025

Registration Deadline: Jun 16, 2025; Submission Deadline: Jun 16, 2025

Welcome to ENR’s Regional Best Projects Awards program! We are seeking entries for our annual awards program, which is dedicated to honoring the best construction projects and the companies that designed and built them in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. Projects compete in 18 specialized categories, ranging from airport/transit to sports/entertainment. Entries with exemplary safety or sustainability programs can also be submitted for two special awards: Excellence in Sustainability and Excellence in Safety.

Independent juries of industry leaders in design and construction from each of ENR’s five regional editions will judge the projects using five criteria, including safety, innovation and teamwork. The winners will be honored at an awards ceremony later in the year and will be featured in the regional editions of ENR. Projects deemed best in category will automatically compete in the Best of the Best Projects, a national juried competition appearing in ENR.

Entries may be submitted by any of the firms working on the project, but the most successful entries are joint entries incorporating input from multiple key team members, such as the design firm, contractor and owner.

FROMM.Lab Launches Its First International Design Competition  Inviting Designers Worldwide to Reimagine Arab Heritage for a Changing World

Milan / Doha, May 1, 2025 — FROMM.Lab – the educational and talent sourcing platform, providing designers with an opportunity to collaborate and contribute to FROMM.’s collections and projects through workshops, mentorship programs, and our co-design process – officially opened its First International Design Competition during Milan Design Week 2025.

This initiative invites designers under 35 from around the world to imagine prototypes that reveal the depth and diversity of Arab heritage while speaking to contemporary global audiences.

With the theme “Design for a Changing World: Bridging Cultures,” the competition aims to foster a new generation of creatives capable of transforming cultural narratives into functional and meaningful pieces. At its core lies a bold vision: to open a dialogue between tradition and innovation, and to explore how heritage can inspire the design language of the future.

Participants are encouraged to submit original concepts in one of four product categoriesseating, tables, storage, and lighting. Upon online registration, applicants will receive the complete competition brief with all technical specifications and detailed requirements. Each piece should weave stories, materials, and symbols from Arab heritage into designs that reflect today’s global design language. FROMM.Lab is looking for work that is at once poetic and practical, local and universal.

“Design has the power to connect cultures and ideas,” says Alia Rachid, Founder & CEO of FROMM. “This competition is an opportunity for creatives to explore heritage in a contemporary context. Through mentorship and international exposure, we aim to support the next generation in shaping a design language that’s rooted, relevant, and forward-looking.”

To this end, FROMM.Lab has assembled a remarkable team of international mentors who will guide the selected finalists: Giulio Cappellini, visionary Italian designer and founder of Cappellini; Joseph Grima, architect, creative director of the Design Academy Eindhoven and co-founder of Space Caviar and Alcova; Aline Asmar d’Amman, architect and founder of Culture in Architecture Paris; Fahad Al Obaidly, Acting Director of Design Doha and FROMM.Lab team led by Luca Fois, professor of Product Design at the Politecnico di Milano.

Finalist projects will be prototyped and produced under the FROMM., with full technical and material support. They will also benefit from international media visibility with the opportunity to exhibit at the Design Doha Biennale in April 2026, within the FROMM.Collections—bringing their vision to an audience of curators, collectors, and cultural leaders.

Madang Project Design Competition for the Korean Museum of Urbanism and Architecture

Registration Deadline: May 15, 2025; Submission Deadline: May 19, 2025

※ Competition Website: https://kmua-madang.com/

The Korean Museum of Urbanism and Architecture (KMUA) is currently under construction in Sejong Administrative City, with completion scheduled for the second half of 2026. The building comprises two basement levels and three above-ground floors, with a total gross floor area of 21,069 square meters. The winning entry of the international design competition, submitted by AZPML + UKST, proposed a unique exhibition space that diverges from the conventional “white cube” gallery model. By introducing two sunken courtyards at the basement levels, the design allows natural light to penetrate deep into the high-ceilinged exhibition halls, thereby creating an open and dynamic environment suited to urban and architectural exhibitions.

XORBIS Inc., one of the consortium currently undertaking the exhibition design, production, and installation for the opening exhibition of the KMUA, is hosting this design competition under the overarching theme of “The Natural & the Artificial in the Museum.” The northern courtyard is designated under the sub-theme “Rest,” while the southern courtyard is associated with “Play.” Through this competition, the intent is to define the characteristics and functions of each courtyard—positioned respectively at the core of the exhibition space (north) and the workshop studio & fabrication lab (south)—and to derive the most suitable design proposal that harmonizes natural and artificial elements. The selection will focus on realistic and feasible proposals that comprehensively consider factors such as the courtyards’ location, orientation, size, height, climate, and ecological conditions. The winning team will be responsible for executing the entire process—including design, production, and installation—in close consultation with the client and other relevant stakeholders.

The Korean Museum of Urbanism and Architecture (KMUA) will be the first and largest museum in Korea dedicated to the fields of urbanism and architecture. It is envisioned as a comprehensive institution that will collect, manage, preserve, research, exhibit, and educate the public on the heritage and materials related to urban and architectural development. Under the overarching theme “Building Life: Korean Urban Architecture, 1950–2010,” the museum is currently planning, designing, and producing ten sub-themed exhibitions.

Located within the National Museum Complex in Sejong Administrative City, the museum is being developed alongside four other national institutions: the Children’s Museum, the National Design Museum, the Digital Heritage Center, and the National Archives Museum.
